"Frozen in the Abyss: A Night of Unimaginable Torment at Keen Mountain Correctional Center"
On the last Friday of April 2020, Shedrick found himself on suicide precautions at Keen Mountain Correctional Center, a nightmarish experience triggered by a medication discontinuation error. The policy, triggered by a dirty urine sample, led to his removal from psychiatric medication. Shedrick’s plea for help resulted in an unimaginable ordeal: being stripped, left in a frigid cell, and subjected to a dehumanizing journey through the facility. The narrative exposes the harsh realities of the prison system, detailing a harrowing 24-hour period of physical and psychological torture, providing an alarming glimpse into the mistreatment endured by inmates within the system.
